In "Evolution," New Orleans based artist Alex Beard investigates the human swarm in its full-throated glory, and the animal world in its primal abundance. Amidst the anarchy of Beard's wild paintings and drawings, a new order emerges in which things hidden at first viewing are soon revealed. In the tradition of experimental mavericks such as Piranesi and M.C. Escher, Beard employs the possibilities inherent in formal design while exploring an intuitive approach to math, physics, and the natural sciences. The results are a vibrant and playful look into the underlying interconnectedness of the visual universe.
